Newby Elementary School

Newby Elementary School is the home to more than 340 students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our campus also includes the historic Gymnasium Building, which was the original Mooresville High School gymnasium built in 1921.

Our school was founded in 1936 after a generous donation by Indianapolis 500 co-founder Arthur Newby in memorial to his uncles William and Milton Newby. Read more about the school’s history. There is also information about our history campus, which housed the original Mooresville High School, built in 1861, as well as the Mooresville Veterans Memorial which sits on the southeast corner of our campus, on our school history and heritage webpage.
